River Gorge
August 28 and 29th marked our Road season closer at the River Gorge Omnium. We had a great turn out for UTC as we had three guys race the road race and two girls. There is not a better way to end the season then at a local race with a brutal climb at mile 40 to the top of Racoon!! It was great to see this season end on such a good note. Last summer we started with nothing and with five people racing I can not imagine what we will be able to get accomplished in the next year. James came out and did his first road race and did very well, with a 27th finish and Rob not far behind. Even though we did well, we had a few set backs, Rob broke his pedal and Don had a nature break. Sarah, raced her first race ever as well and got 2nd place in the Womens four group!!!What an amazing climber and trooper to hang in during all the attacks. At the time trial, Stephanie got caught behind a car on the course and was forced to sit up and finished 12th. During the crit on sunday Don and Stephanie both did well, Stephanie finished 5th in the sprint, giving her 5th overall for the Omnium, and raced again in the 123 race where she had a mechanical and could not get back in. Don also did very well leading the group out and in the front constantly. He finsihed in the crit and overall.
